El Centro del Pueblo, at 1157 Lemoyne Street, Los Angeles, Ca 90026. was established in 1974 as a non-profit community service agency. El Centro's mission is to provide social services in an effort to improve the quality of life for the youth and families of Echo Park, Temple-Beaudry, Silverlake, Pico-Union, Elysian Valley and the central-city communities.
El Centro del Pueblo traditionally sets its community-service goals by responding either to needs expressed by the community or the needs evident to staff through their work with "at risk" populations. It is for these reasons that the agency has consistently instituted programs which include the whole family and has established collaborative efforts with other service providers to complement El Centro's current services.

Located in Echo Park, the agency provides job training, family preservation, child abuse and neglect intervention, emergency services, youth counseling, behavior change outreach, alcoholism prevention, AIDS prevention and a family development network of services delivered in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
