El Centro Del Pueblo’s The Family Development Network
El Centro del Pueblo, in conjunction with five community-based organizations and the City of Los Angeles , leads this innovative network to provide a wide array of services to families. The Family Development Network is able to provide services to the multiethnic communities within our wide service area. The goal of the Family Development Network is for families in our communities to achieve self sufficiency. The network consists of 7 components. Services are free of charge with many available in Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog/Pilipino, and English.
SERVICES:
Counseling and Case Management
Individual, Family and Group Counseling are offered to children and families. Referrals are obtained from other community agencies, LAUSD, Law Enforcement agencies, people call-in or walk-in.Parenting Classes
Classes are offered on a continued basis to parents. These parenting classes are based on a progressive model. The classes satisfy requirements for Court, DCFS, Probation, City and District Attorney.Youth Advocacy Program
The Youth Advocacy Program is part of the Family Development Network which is funded by the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department. The program was originally geared for Law Enforcement to utilize as a tool to prevent and intervene with first time offenders. The program has evolved in extending its referral requisition from the Los Angeles County Department of Probation, City and District Attorney’s Office, and School Police.This component provides youth offenders with individual/family/group counseling, parenting, advocacy, and other social services based on the needs required by Law Enforcement, Department of Probation, the Juvenile Judiciary System, and client assessments in order to rehabilitate the individual and make an effort for them not to recommit another crime and make behavioral modifications that will lead them in becoming productive community members.
Emergency Services
This component assists individuals whose own resources have been exhausted. Assistance usually are referrals to tangible agencies which provide basic needs (Food, Shelter, Clothing, Etc.). The referral is specific to an agency which equipped to handle the specific need. This components goal is to help the person in need stabilize their situation, allowing them to understand how to seek and utilize resources which will lead the individual in problem solving.OTS Component
This component provides public safety meetings at Logan Elementary School and Car Seat Workshops to the community. The car seat workshops allow parents/guardians to learn how to properly install child restraint systems and understand local and state laws for child passenger safety. In addition, this program also provides information on Pedestrian, Bicycle, Skateboard, and Traffic safety and the California Kids Plates Program.Youth Leadership Component
This component is geared to provide an opportunity for youth ages 13-17 years of age to engage in leadership skill building activities and to engage with other community agencies.Support Services Component

The Family Development Network has taken a high level of participation in the Los Angeles Unified School District ’s Student Attendance Review Board.
